'There was just something missing all day, and I don't know what it was,' Roethlisberger said. 'Something was weird about the day. I don't know if it was the (mid-60s) weather in November or what it was. Even the crowd at the beginning - everything was just kind of different. No excuse.'

Holmes suggested that if Roethlisberger felt that way, it explains why the Steelers lost.

'He's the quarterback. He's got control over everything, who touches the ball,' Holmes said. 'He dictates where the ball goes, and if he felt that way, it's probably why we didn't win the ballgame.'

To me, Ben's comments bordered on being stupid.  Let's blame the weather.  Let's blame the crowd.  THAT IS RIDICULOUS.  Have you ever heard Peyton Manning or Tom Brady make such foolish comments?  As a QB in the NFL, you have to be able to put all distractions out of your mind and go out there and play football and be the emotional leader of your team. Ben showed no emotion on Sunday.  In fact, I commented that he almost looked like Jay Cutler at times, he just seemed disinterested and unfocused and looked like he wanted to get the game over and go home.  AND THIS WAS THE STEELERS BIGGEST GAME OF THE SEASON!  I'm sorry, I love Ben and wouldn't trade him for another QB in the league with the exception of maybe PM, but he blew it on Sunday.  It's early, but the AFC North crown was there for the taking and now the Steelers do not control their own destiny, but must rely on the likes of the Oakland Raiders, the Cleveland Browns, and the Detroit Lions to pull off the upset.  I hope the weather is to Ben's liking this weekend!!

Even so..... just the fact that you read this comment as a 'Holmes side vrs. Ben's side' proves the point I am trying to make. Holmes comment being fact or fiction really makes no difference here. As a player on an organization such as the Steelers, you do not put out a comment that asks people to choose a side within your own team. Ya just don't!

Your topic heading makes my point for me...thanks!

Ben wasn't blaming the crowd or the weather.  He was saying that he felt off, and to him the entire day felt wierd\different to HIM.  If that is the weather, his arm, the crowd, the grass, the temperature...   the point he is trying to make is that it was a bad day for him, but Ben would never excuse his play on the fans.

Ben had a bad day and was taking the brunt for it. I don't think he was blaming anything or anybodyelse. He has won 2 superbowls...brought from the 6th seed and beat Indy,Denver, etc. on their turf when the heat was on. He had a bad day. Put it behind us and move on. As for Santonio start catching more balls...we could have beat Chicago and Cincy had he not dropped catchable balls...even on Bens off days.

I hope Ben did not make those comments yesterday. By now, we shall have some type of clues why we have lost this. If we still are not sure, as Ben pointed to fans or to weather, MAN, we got a problem here. If you don't know where the problem is, it is impossible to fix it!

Oh goodness!!!!!!!

He was just saying that to him everything ....EVERYTHING .....seemed off. He wasn't blaming that stuff, just saying he was so 'off' that everything felt not right about the day.

He, like every other RED BLOODED AMERICAN, had a bad day at the office...his office just happens to be the football field.  He was NOT making excuses

He was just having a bad day...

Wow, some of you read way too much into these comments and take Ben's and Holmes comments totally out of context. Calm down and go get laid or something, stop being so uptight about everything.

Fans appeared off to me as well; stadium seemed so quiet!  So I can see where Ben was coming from on that one.
