I have posted several times my disappointment with the way Tomlin is coaching the Steelers, many of you feel I have a hatred for the man.  Nothing is furthur from the truth, in fact I want to see him be a suscessful coach in the NFL, when he is suscessful so are the Steelers.  Tomlin is a very intelligent professional, but its Tomlins time to take the next step and take charge of not only the team but the coaching staff.  My points are these:

Giving Tomlin the benifit of the doubt his first year, what has actually changed with this team on his watch?  Looking at the post over the past year and a half we see the same topics posted day after day, can the offensive line protect Ben? What will we see on special teams?  Will we run affectivly?  What play calling will Ariens have? One game we look unbeatable the next we wonder if we can beat anyone. On game day we hold our collective breaths to see what team shows up.  When Ben scrambles around we hope he can make something positive from Tomlins backyard offense, thank the football gods that most times he can.  Tomlin seems to be comfortable with this offense because we have seen nothing changing or atleast an attempt to change.  Most look at Ariens as the problem with the inconsistant offense.  I look at Tomlin, who by last accounts is the head coach, is active in the game planning and play calling and is Ariens as well as all other assistant coaches boss.  Again giving Tomlin the benifit of the doubt I never see him interacting with other coaches or player on the sidelines, rarely do I see him talking into the headset, sometimes wondering if it's really plugged in.  The running game has not imporved to a consistant level.  Mendenhall has his flash of being a productive back on the outside runs, but Tomlin lets Ariens abandon the running game to the pass happy playground kind of football that when it works we all Oh and Aw, when it dosent we all go after Ariens head.  The kicking game has put an aged defense in short field positions repeditly if we are lucky enough to have stopped a touchdown.  The fact is nothing has changed nor do we see consistant imporvements on Tomlins watch.

I have said it before and will untill Tomlin proves me wrong:

Tomlin is not a problem solver and This will be the year that defines him as a head coach.

good post man. I agree.

Tomlin took a lot of credits for his inaction. well, rightfully for the first couple of years. The conventional wisdom is don't fix it unless its broken. Now, we, and many fans on and off the board see some issues with Ben, O/C, Special team. Then the question is can he actually fix those issues. He has not proven that he can, at least not to me. As I post it on another thread (even tho I admitted I was frustrated at the time), I said, (bad word)LeBeau calls for defense, Bruce calls for offense, upstairs calls for chanllenge/review, WHAT does Tomlin do? And yet, for some strainge reasons, lots of credit goes to him when we won while Arain, sometimes, even LeBeau took blames when things went wrong. what a dream job Tomlin has.

Tomlin needs to step up and put his stamps on the team. When O/C is not calling the right play, I want to see his step in and make adhustments.

So you're okay with the status quo then, no running game and special teams that couldn't tackle a 70 year old grandmother returning a kick DERRR !  You missed the whole point of the post which is when is Tomlin going to assert more authority as HC and show without a doubt something is being done to adequately address the deficiencies with this team ie, replace poor coaches (special teams coach comes to mind), shake up the roster, more commitment to the run, whatever it takes to show the team he means business.

I get your point .  Football is an emotional  game .  And when things are going bad people like to see our team leader (Tomlin) get emotional with players and coaches . That at least lets us know he's doing something about it .  That was  Cowher .  That is not Tomlin .   That is not his style . For good or bad .   I for one wouldn't mind seeing him rip someone a new one  after another return TD.

My son and I have been kidding about this for years.  The Steelers score then...'Here comes a touchdown on the kickoff!'  It's wearing thin.  I'm getting sick of it.  We lose too many games like this.  Fire someone.

Ok so let me get this straight, because YOU don't see Tomlin talking to other coaches or see him talking in his headset that somehow he is just there and not actively coaching? So thats what you need to see from a coach? I guess you want Rex Ryan to coach the Steelers.

Tomlin has seemed to reach his players, by their comments THEY seem to know who is in charge. Your drumbeat about Tomlin is starting to get really old, maybe you should check to see what the real problem is.
