This is the best team we've had since '78, right? In '04, I knew the Pats wer better than us. In '05, I thought the Bengals and Colts were better than us (I feel we got help from Palmer's knee and Dungy's kid comitting suicide, God rest his soul), last year, I thought the Titans were better, and cheered when they fumbled the Raven game away. This year? I don't see any teams out there that are better than us. I haven't felt like this since '78.

I hate to think I'm an old timer but too early to tell.

Well....I was a little young in 78 (6years old)....but I can say this...after I went to camp this year.....I was telling anyone who would listen that this is by far the best Steeler team I have seen.

Agreed. So far things look good but the story continues...

What a weird jinx you just hexed us with. I'm too stunned to even address those imbecilic points listed in your post.

I was 9 years old in 78. Tough question to answer..the team of the 70's was a true dynasty. If this team wins the SB again, then I would say yes to your question.

I don't know, that 83 team with Cliff Stoudt and rookie wideout sensation Paul Skansi merits some consideration.

Actually I think this COULD be the best team since the original Steeler dynasty in the mid to late 70s.  I think we're actually more balanced now than we've been on this latest 2 out of 4 Super Bowl run.  I don't know.  Ask me this question again in early February.

Pats wern't better than us. If you know who is blitzing, you know where to throw. I can't beleive anyone could believe anything else

The teams from the 70's were filled with HOFer's about equal regular guys that just came together well.  This era of teams for the Steeler SB seasons are not filled even close to quarter of the way with potential HOFer's, but rather about 93% regular guys that just seem to have the right chemistry.

The 70's teams had a great coach and assistants all around.

It's hard to compare.  Everything is so different.  Free agency, different rules, But I will say this....this is the best nfl team that has come down the pike in a long, long time.

Some things you young guys don't remember.  Spearing with the helmet was allowed.  You could hit the receiver at any time before the ball left the QBs hand. You could even knock him to the ground.  The defensive backs and receivers would coat their hands with stickem and that was made illegal only because the ball got so sticky the QBs were having a tough time throwing it. And yes...the QBs didn't wear skirts.  You could blast them as hard as you wanted on any part of his body. This 'NO hand slap to the helmet' rule is ridiculous.

So you see...it's way different.
