Ok, so our ST's coverage has always been sub-par.  Last yr was fantastic with Madison but he's gone.  We've given up 2 TD's and several above avg returns this yr both punts and K/O's.  A few weeks back I remember when Denver won on MNF simply by Royal running back 2 TD's.  I recall saying to myself at the time that they would have lost that game had those not happened.  The play between the lines outside of ST's would have resulted in a L for them.  Should we be overly concerned about the same thing happening to us next Monday?  Or am I just being overly paranoid?

I think that is the biggest concern about this game IMO. We should be able to put pressure on Orton and make him throw a couple of pics, and our offense should be able to work their secondary with our pass attack. I think it will be a close game but if we give up a return for a TD that could be the nail in the coffin for us. Hopefully they have been focusing on that in practice because Royal can make you pay if you give him one little opening. Jeff Reed needs to eat his wheaties and make sure he uses the thin air to his advantage. Hopefully he can kick off past the 10 yard line (that is key).If he can't kick it to the endzone there I will really question his leg strength, which is funny because his legs are the size of two normal kickers.

The Broncos are more concerned about their leaky coverage teams than the Steelers are.  Coach Tomlin doesn't seem concerned, in that the Vikings return was an isolated incident and with Cribbs it was just a tip your cap scenario.  I think he's right about those things.  The key about special teams this week is that we're highly likely to see Stefan Logan finally inflict some major damage on an opponent.

Some teams have good return squads that set up well and block effectively so it's impossible to stop them all the time. We're doing okay on ST's.

2007  sep = returns for TD's and big return yards. bad looking coverage unit.    2008 berger = near the same net yards.  no TD returns. no big return yards.   coverage unit led the league.    2009 = sep  coverage units being questioned.  bigger returns.  opponents out punting us.  you make the call.

The returns for TD's against us were on kick offs, not punts.  Sepulveda has nothing to do with it.

2008 = Steelers gave up 6.2 yards per punt return, with a long of 46.

2009 = Steelers give up a very similar 6.7 yards per punt return, with a long of 26. Sepulveda replacing Berger absolutely has not resulted in  bigger returns.
